As a congregation, we have decided to support 2 out of 8 projects that the Baptist Church in Denmark has currently prioritized.
The first is “Education for All” – This helps with schooling especially for girls and women in Rwanda and Burundi as well as supporting savings and loan groups.
Children are some of the most vulnerable in Burundi and Rwanda. At the same time, we know that education is the path to development, and women play a major role in development.
In the current 4th phase of the project, 3,600 people will be reached – of which 2,900 are women. Participants are also offered membership in “Savings and loan groups”, which help ensure a more stable financial situation throughout the year and have reduced periods of hunger or undernourishment.
The second is “Growing Congregations”. The project helps with church buildings and training of priests and leaders in Burundi and Rwanda.
We support the congregations in evangelism, i.a. by helping to provide facilities for the work – they themselves can contribute labor and some materials, but help is often needed for completion, such as doors, windows, and roof construction.
The agricultural project in Rubura in northern Burundi, helps to finance the seminary, and at the same time educates the local community on better and more efficient cultivation methods.
